Sentimentality has been a central theme for me since I was a young girl, treasure-hunting through the jewellery box my mum kept for me - filled with precious pieces gifted to me since I was a baby. I love how jewellery can magically capture memories, acting as a vessel to hold onto our most treasured moments.

This inspiration is then used to create an initial sketch, setting the foundation for a piece that balances soft lines with enduring elegance.

Honed over two decades since graduating with an MA from Royal College of Art (RCA), my style ensures your piece is a timeless statement of refined elegance.

I collaborate with trusted jewellery artisans to craft your piece, ensuring exceptional skill and finish.

ETHICAL QUALITY
We work with unique pearls and precious metals. My design process involves a conscious approach to material choice with a preference for using recycled silver and gold. We can discuss incorporating specific ethically sourced and conflict free gems into your design. All hallmarking is carried out by the London Assay Office, ensuring the highest standards of precious metal purity.

PERSONAL TOUCHES
We can discuss adding special details like engraving to personalise your design even further.


THE TIMELINE

It is best to get in touch as early as possible to reserve your commission slot. A great time to start the process is once you have secured your dress, but you are welcome to reach out sooner!

Please note that the full bespoke process has a minimum 2-3 month lead time from final design approval to delivery. Simpler designs can be achieved in a quicker timeframe.

I asked Maria to design and draft some custom earrings for my wedding day, and she absolutely did not disappoint. The experience was one I will treasure, and the earrings themselves are a piece that I now wear regularly and receive the most wonderful compliments. Maria is not only talented, but a perfectionist - meticulously tweaking the design and exploring finishing details like only a true artist would. The symbolic design had a story, and Maria sketched multiple options for me to choose from, talking me through the mindful manufacturing process and suggesting engraving options. The updates and design appointments were a really exciting part of the process - so much so that I was almost sad that my beautiful earrings were complete! I love that I now have an original Maria Lau piece of my own, and one that has so many artisan qualities unlike any other jewellery I have seen.
